Phenomena is a podcast from ReD Associates that looks at big questions about society through the lens of the social sciences — with a focus on how they shape business strategy. The challenge was to create an identity that felt critical, thoughtful, and connected to ReD’s core brand — but still flexible enough to evolve across seasons as the conversation grew.
Design
We built the system by pulling from key elements of ReD’s identity — photography treatment, typographic styling, and the asterisk from the logo — and layering in a custom gradient that subtly shifts across episodes. Season 2, “Leading with Perspective,” pushes the system further, swapping photography for abstract graphic forms that play with the z-axis, creating a sense of depth and exploration.
Engagement
The identity was designed to feel familiar to ReD’s world, but open enough to invite new perspectives. Each season evolves visually while keeping a clear thread back to the core system — a quiet signal that the questions, like the design, are meant to keep expanding.
